A Sydney man has been extradited from the UK to face serious domestic violence charges. It’s alleged he inflicted life-threatening injuries on a woman he knew in 2015.

A 37-year-old man has been extradited from the United Kingdom to face trial for serious domestic violence offences committed in 2015.

Police will allege the man assaulted a 25-year-old woman that he knew between April and July 2015 in Sydney. Police believe one of those attacks caused life-threatening injuries to the woman.

The 37-year-old arrived back on Australian soil on Thursday, after residing in the UK for a period of time. It has been almost eight years since the police launched their initial investigation into the crimes.

NSW police requested the extradition with the help of the Attorney-General’s department and Australian Federal Police. Investigators had to fly to London to collect the man who was then flown into Sydney under police escort.

Upon arriving he was bundled up into the police van and transferred to Mascot police station.
