A man in his 60s has died of significant injuries after what police believe was a “targeted” home invasion.

Emergency services were called to Union Rd, Penrith at 1.30am on Saturday following reports of a home invasion, finding a 60-year-old-man with significant head injuries.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however his condition deteriorated and he died at the scene.

Police from the homicide squad are now involved in the investigation with a manhunt now underway to find those involved.

Detective Inspector Michael Cantrell, Crime Manager for Nepean Police Area Command said police were now looking for two men.

“Upon investigations commencing it was established that two males entered unit by force where an altercation took place,” Det. Indp. Cantrell said.

“The males were seen to leave towards Union Rd and are described only as Pacific Islander males.”

“It appears to have been a targeted attack and there is no further public safety issues.”

Det. Indp. Cantrell said another resident was present at the time of the incident, but was unharmed and is cooperating with police.

The man lived in a large public housing complex located opposite the council Carpark on Union Rd.

His unit is at the rear of a battle axe estate that features at least three residential buildings.

Police taped off the entire property as a crime scene.

Forensics officers could be seen leaving the property about 10.30am after photographing the scene.

Neighbouring residents said they had not heard any noise at the time of the dispute.

“It was all quiet,” said one woman who lives in an adjacent block.

“The first we knew about it was when we saw all the cops turn up”.
