Man dies after alleged assault at a home in Kyogle, 56-year-old charged as police launch homicide investigation
A 49-year-old man has died following an alleged assault at a home in Kyogle, in northern NSW. Police have arrested and charged another man as homicide detectives investigate.

A man has died after being assaulted in the state’s north.
Police were called to a home on Irwin St in Kyogle shortly before 11am on Monday following reports a man had been injured.
Officers arrived to find a 49-year-old man unconscious with injuries consistent with an assault.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.
Police launched Strike Force Alonnah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 56-year-old man on Highfield Rd in Kyogle shortly before 4.30pm the same day.
He was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
Police will allege in court that the 56-year-old assaulted the man on Sunday following a verbal altercation.
The man refused bail to appear before Casino Local Court on Tuesday.
