Man charged with attempted firearm attack and choking in Parkes domestic violence incident
A man has been charged with multiple domestic violence offences, including attempting to discharge a firearm at a woman, following a late-night incident at unit in the state’s central west.

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to fire a gun at a woman during a violent domestic incident in the state’s west.
Police were called to a unit on Victoria St in Parkes shortly before 10.10pm on Tuesday following reports of a domestic incident.
Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old woman who had allegedly been assaulted by a 28-year-old man known to her.
During the alleged attack, police said the man attempted to fire a gun at the woman.
The man fled the scene before further officers arrived.
During a search of the unit, officers uncovered and seized a firearm and an amount of ammunition.
The woman was taken to Parkes Hospital for treatment.
Following inquiries, the 28-year-old man attended Parkes Police Station shortly before 12.20pm on Wednesday, where he was arrested.
He has since been charged with a string of offences including intentionally choke a person without consent (domestic violence), common assault, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, attempt to discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence) and possess ammunition without holding a licence or permit.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Cowra Local Court on Thursday.
