A man has been charged after allegedly crashing a car into multiple parked vehicles and threatening strangers with a machete during a chaotic incident in Sydney’s south west.
Police responded to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a white sedan being driven erratically through the streets of Yagoona just after 7pm on Wednesday.
Witnesses said the vehicle collided with several parked cars at different locations across the suburb.
Officers located the car and a 46-year-old man on Talbot Rd a short time later.
Police were told the man allegedly threatened two other men with a machete before officers arrived. Initial inquiries allege they were not known to each other.
A knife was seized at the scene, and the man was taken to Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing and further assessment.
Following his release on Thursday, he was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with multiple offences, including carry knife visible in public place – cause fear for safety, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, armed with intent to commit indictable offence and not give particulars to other driver.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Friday.
