A man has been arrested on Bronte Beach after allegedly recording intimate images without consent and behaving offensively on Australia Day.

Police were called to the beach shortly before 4pm following complaints about Kamal Arora’s behaviour.

Pictures from the scene show officers arresting the 63-year-old and escorting him off the beach before taking him to Waverley Police Station, where he was charged with six offences.

The charges are three counts each of intentionally recording intimate images without consent and behaving in an offensive manner in or near a public place.

Arora was refused bail and was due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday, but the case was adjourned until Tuesday because the available magistrates could not get through the high volume of matters listed.

The arrest was made during Operation Australia Day, which resulted in NSW Police laying charges over a range of alleged crimes that included knife, assault and offensive conduct offences.

However, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Gavin Wood said he was happy with how most people had conducted themselves.

“The vast majority of people that came out to enjoy the festivities celebrated safely and responsibly, which made for a good day,” he said.
