Two men are on the run after attacking a man and stealing a car during a violent home invasion in Sydney’s east.
Police were called to Jersey St in Matraville shortly before 11pm on Sunday following reports of a break-in.
A 65-year-old woman was confronted by two intruders who assaulted her 70-year-old partner, causing head and hand injuries.
The attackers then stole the couple’s blue Subaru XV and fled the scene.
The man was treated at the scene and later taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released from hospital.
Detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
