A man and woman are in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed on Sydney’s northern beaches on Monday morning.

Police were called to West Street in Balgowlah shortly before 5.45am.

Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman, both aged in their 30s, with stab wound.

They were both treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The woman was taken in a serious but stable condition and the man remains in a serious condition.

Police crime scene tape still surrounded the house in West St, at 9am on Monday, where the alleged stabbings took place.

The house, in a state of disrepair with an overgrown front garden, was being guarded by two police officers.

A neighbour, who lives several homes away in West St — who asked not to be named — said he had previously regularly called police and ambulance to the home, just off Sydney Rd.

“I’ve had to call the police to make noise complaints because,” the neighbour said.

“The ambulance has been called too.”

Another neighbour confirmed that they had seen police visit the house several times in recent years.

Inquiries are ongoing.
