Man allegedly threatened woman known to him with knife in southwest Sydney

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife during a domestic violence incident at a home in Sydney’s southwest.

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife during a domestic violence incident at a home in Sydney’s southwest on Sunday night.

Police were called to a home on Victoria Rd in Punchbowl shortly before 10pm following reports of a domestic incident.

Officers were told a woman, in her 40s, was allegedly threatened by a man with a knife inside the home before fleeing the scene.

There were no injuries reported due to the incident.

Police established a crime scene and launched a manhunt for the perpetrator, calling in assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

The 26-year-old man was arrested nearby shortly after. 

He was taken to Canterbury Hospital for treatment under police guard.

He was later taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property, affray, use etc offensive weapon with intention to commit indictable offence, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Monday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on July 17.
