Former Federal Minister Linda Reynolds will be the first of two Liberal senators to give evidence next week in the trial of Bruce Lehrmann, who is accused of sexually assaulting Brittany Higgins in Ms Reynolds’ office.
Lehrmann, 27, has pleaded not guilty to sexual intercourse with Brittany Higgins, without her consent and being reckless to her consent, in the early hours of March 23, 2019.
Prosecutors, last week, told the jury Ms Higgins woke up on the couch of their boss, then-Minister Reynolds, to find Lehrmann raping her.
Ms Reynolds is expected to give evidence on Tuesday as ACT Director of Public Prosecutions, Shane Drumgold SC, moves to wrap up his case against Lehrmann.
An updated witness list reveals some witnesses have been dropped from the case, though former Senator Michaelia Cash is still expected to give evidence.
Witnesses have been heard in the absence of Ms Higgins, who became unavailable to finish her evidence at the start of this week.
She is expected to return to court on Friday to complete her evidence.
Last week Ms Higgins gave emotional evidence about the night of March 23, when she was allegedly assaulted by Lehrmann after they went drinking with colleagues in Canberra.
The trial continues.
