Lawyer charged over alleged attempt to bring drugs into Parklea Correctional Centre

A female lawyer has been busted for allegedly attempting to bring meth, tobacco, and cocaine into prison after objects fell out of her pants as she visited a northwest Sydney jail.

Solicitor accused of Parklea drug smuggle

A western Sydney lawyer who describes herself as a “solicitor looking to take over the world” has been accused of attempting to smuggle illicit and prescription drugs into a Sydney prison via her clothing.

Police sources say Kristy Howell, of KJR Legal in Penrith, was visiting a client at Parklea Prison on Tuesday when several objects allegedly falling out of her pants raised the suspicion of prison guards.

Officers subsequently seized six small balloons containing tobacco, methamphetamine, cocaine and the prescription drug buprenorphine, a medication used to address narcotic addiction.

Howell, 43, was arrested and charged with unlawfully bringing items into a place of detention, indictable prohibited drug supply and two counts of prohibited drug supply.

She was granted police bail on Tuesday to report three times a week, not enter any correctional facility, not to contact an unidentified person at Parklea Prison and to be of good behaviour.

Howell will face Blacktown Local Court for the first time on July 22.

In her Instagram bio, Howell describes herself as “principal solicitor, emotionally stunted, academically inebriated, attention deficient, cosmetically challenged and travel yearning”.

On LinkedIn Howell identified herself as the principal solicitor at KJR Legal for the past seven years, with the NSW Law Society indicating she was admitted as a lawyer in August 2008.
