Kye David Campbell charged over kilogram of ice found in car on M1 Motorway near Cameron Park

Kye David Campbell was arrested near Cameron Park following what police allege was a pursuit. But it was the 33 bags allegedly found in his car that quickly attracted the attention of officers.

They were plastic bags which were as oddly uniform as they were tightly wrapped.

And the number of them meant it didn’t take long to attract the attention of police as they began searching the car on the M1 Motorway near Cameron Park following an alleged pursuit.

In fact, police will allege there were 33 bags in all, each of them containing an ounce of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, ready for further distribution.

The total amount of ice alleged to have been found – just under one kilogram.

Some of the 33 bags which police allege each carried an ounce of ice and was seized during the arrest of Kye David Campbell on the M1 Motorway near Cameron Park.

The car’s driver, 22-year-old Kye David Campbell, is now facing a charge of supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, a count that attracts a maximum penalty of life imprisonment if proven.

Police allege Campbell’s car had been seen near a Thornton industrial estate earlier on Friday by police hunting another man on unrelated matters.

The 33 bags allegedly seized by police.

But when they tried to pull Campbell’s car over, police allege it took off.

More officers are allegedly to have later seen it on the M1 Motorway near Cameron Park.

They will allege they were taken on a short pursuit before Campbell was arrested and the ice was discovered.

He was taken to Toronto police station and later charged with supplying a commercial quantity of ice, possessing the prohibited drug and a drive recklessly count relating to the alleged pursuit.

Campbell faced Toronto Local Court on Tuesday where he was refused bail to reappear in April.
