The brother of murderer Katherine Knight has been rearrested by detectives investigating an alleged paedophile ring operating for decades across the Hunter and north-west NSW.
Strike Force Eiraban detectives arrested Neville Joseph Knight at Belmont on Tuesday and charged him with 85 offences relating to eight boys.
Police allege the offending occurred at Moree and Muswellbrook between the 1960s and 2000s.
Knight is a former youth worker and the brother of Katherine Knight, who was the first female jailed for life for the horrific murder of her de facto John Price in Aberdeen in 2000.
Neville Knight, who also goes by the surname Roughan, was granted bail in July after being charged with 15 offences relating to two teenage boys.
Part of his argument in getting bail in July was that he was at risk in jail because of the notoriety of his sister.
Knight denied the allegations when fronted outside court.
Further investigations by Strike Force Eiraban prompted his rearrest on Tuesday.
Knight briefly faced Belmont Local Court on Wednesday where he did not apply for bail.
His matter will return to the same court on January 19.
Detectives also arrested a second man in Port Macquarie on Tuesday and charged him with 28 child sex offences.
He was due to face Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday.
Police will allege the pair were part of a paedophile network which preyed on young boys in Moree and Muswellbrook for decades.
