The younger brother of slain gangster Bilal Hamze has avoided jail for breaching strict orders put in place in a bid to quell the violence between his family and the Alameddines.
Ibrahem Hamze, 26, is believed to have played a role in the escalation of the underworld war when he got involved in an altercation with a young rival last October, just days before his cousin Mejid was gunned down in a separate incident at Condell Park.
As a result he was placed on a serious crime prevention order (SCPO) which limited his ability to associate with fellow criminals, travel to specific suburbs and even possess mobile phones.
Hamze faced Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to four counts of breaching his SCPO.
Court documents revealed the breaches included the use of an unauthorised mobile phone and car.
In sentencing Hamze to a two-year community corrections order, Magistrate Greg Elks issued him a stern warning.
“If you breach the bonds (again), you’ll come back before me and I will put you in jail,” Magistrate Elks said.
Hamze was also fined $500 for possessing prohibited drugs.
The underworld figure sat quietly in court wearing luxury sneakers, rolled up jeans and a white NBA branded T-shirt, and sporting a plaster cast on his right wrist.
Outside court he remained tight-lipped when asked about the murder of his brother Bilal, the arrest of two men over the shooting of his cousin Mejid and the ongoing feud with the Alameddine family.
