Bruce William Evans pleads guilty to shooting at an Aberdeen house

Detectives are investigating whether an ongoing neighbourhood dispute was the catalyst for several shots being fired into an Aberdeen home.

Hunter Valley police rushed to McAdam St about 12.20pm on Thursday following the reports that shots had been heard.

A crime scene was established around a house and a perimeter established before Bruce William Evans, 62, was arrested on nearby MacQueen St.

No one was injured.

Evans was taken to Muswellbrook police station for questioning as forensic experts started processing evidence from the targeted house.

Police also conducted a search of the Evans’ home, where they seized several firearms and ammunition.

Evans was charged on Thursday afternoon and pleaded guilty to a series of charges when he faced Muswellbrook Local Court on Friday.

The guilty pleas were entered on charges including firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property; possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit; possessing an unauthorised pistol; possessing an unregistered firearm-pistol; not keeping a firearm safely-pistol; not keeping a firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited; and possessing a prohibited drug.

He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused. He will reappear in Muswellbrook Local Court for sentence on February 8.
