A man police believe is linked to a drive-by shooting, where CCTV captured the moment when two people were seen exiting a black SUV and unleashing a volley of bullets at a home in western Sydney, will remain behind bars on remand.

The man was refused bail at Blacktown Local Court on Friday after he was charged with possess shortened firearm without authority, not keep firearm safely - prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm in public place, possess firearm not stamped/engraved with allotted number and acquire firearm while subject to prohibition order.

Security footage captured the terrifying moments the cul-de-sac of Steeple Pl in Marsden Park was filled with the sounds of gunfire as more than half a dozen shots are fired into a home, leaving neighbours terrified.

Moments after the gunshots, two men were seen “jumping in a car” and speeding off.

Not long after the house was sprayed with bullets, a burnt-out car was found nearby.

Just before 10.45pm on Thursday, officers from Riverstone Police Area Command were called to the street in Marsden Park, following reports of gunfire.

The vehicle was completely destroyed despite efforts from Fire and Rescue NSW crews to extinguish the blaze.

Following inquiries, patrolling officers stopped a ride share vehicle on Lucretia Rd, Toongabbie, where they spoke with the passenger onboard.

During a search of the 18-year-old male passenger, police allegedly located and seized a firearm and spent ammunition cartridges.

He was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged.

Back at the scene of the shooting, Pat Nario said he was half asleep when he heard the gunshots.

“My wife was watching a movie and then all of a sudden we heard some gunshots,” he said.

“She straight away peeked out the window and she saw a couple guys jumping in the car and shooting off.”

Mr Nario said the gunshots were “loud” and his family were “rattled” by the incident.

Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, was on his balcony when he saw the black car enter his street.

“I thought it was like a delivery driver,” he said.

“(The car) was there for about a minute or two and then made a U-turn.”

He said he heard “firecrackers” which he then realised were gunshots.

Police have launched inquiries at both locations and are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

Police have said the current occupants of the house were not the intended targets.
