A man who was hospitalised following an attack by men armed with knives and bats was an associate of missing underworld fraudster Amin Naaman.
Naaman has not been seen since vanishing from Sydney while investors were chasing him for tens of millions of dollars. He has not been seen since November 2019.
The self-styled app entrepreneur’s business folded and almost sparked all-out war between underworld heavyweights as they turned on each other in a bid to reclaim their investment.
The tax office is also pursuing the Greenacre man for at least $7 million.
Police sources told The Daily Telegraph that the 34-year-old attacked last year was an advisor to Naaman.
Detectives have now released CCTV footage of a trio of men wearing hooded jackets running near a crime scene after the man was assaulted, stabbed and left on the side of the road in Sydney’s southwest last year.
The three-men were recorded running towards a Nissan Navara on Clifford St, Panania, around 7am on September 23.
The victim, a 34-year-old man, was standing next to his car when a ute with green P-plates stopped beside him.
Police say three men got out of the car and assaulted the 34-year-old before leaving him on the side of the road.
Police said in a statement they believe it was a targeted attack.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition. He has since been released.
Police believe the three men captured on video can help with their investigation.
The first man depicted is described as being aged between 20 and 30, of medium build with dark facial hair. He is depicted wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants, a black cap with black and white sports shoes and light-coloured gloves.
The second man is described as being about 180-185cm tall and of medium build. He is depicted wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and gloves.
