Detectives investigating claims of online fraud against the state and federal governments have allegedly uncovered a gel blaster handgun, ammunition and drugs during a raid on a Shoal Bay home.
Resident Louie Walter Partridge was arrested on Tuesday after Port Stephens-Hunter investigators arrived at the Government Road home with a search warrant.
The raid was part of an investigation into the alleged fraud of about $50,000 from a series of government grants for businesses and individuals struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic.
They will allege Partridge had successfully applied for tens of thousands of dollars in grants he was never entitled to.
While searching the home for evidence, detectives allegedly seized a gel blaster handgun and ammunition.
They also allegedly found two cannabis plants, 48.99 grams of dried cannabis and 0.4 grams of ice.
Partridge was arrested and taken to Nelson Bay police station where he was charged with 13 fraud-related offences, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and four firearm-related offences.
He was refused bail when he appeared in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Wednesday and will reappear in court on May 9.
