A gunman is on the run after a home believed to be linked to the Alameddine crime network was peppered with bullets in a drive-by shooting in western Sydney.

A gunman is on the run after a home believed to be linked to the Alameddine crime network was peppered with bullets in a drive-by shooting in western Sydney overnight.
It is understood police are investigating whether the intended target of the shooting was an underworld figure, who has previously been arrested over gun charges.
Police sources said at least one of the home’s residents is known to authorities.
Police were called to Myall St in Merrylands shortly before 10pm after residents reported several shots were fired from a white car.
The people inside the home were not injured.
A short time later, officers were called to Bennett St in Bass Hill following reports of a car fire.
Detectives and firefighters arrived to find a Hyundai hatchback well alight.
Crews extinguished the blaze but the car was completely destroyed.
No one was in the vehicle at the time.
Police are investigating if the white Hyundai hatchback was used as the getaway vehicle after the hail of bullets sprayed into the Merrylands house.
This drive-by shooting is the second to rock western Sydney in less than a week.
On Thursday, four people escaped injury after their home was sprayed with bullets in Constitution Hill.
