Ex-wife’s interim AVO against Sydney investor Chris Nasser dropped by police

Socialite Hollie Nasser has been accused of using the court “as a weapon” in her pursuit of an AVO against her millionaire ex-husband Chris Nasser.

How will COVID-19 impact this year's federal election?

Police have dropped the AVO taken out against multi-millionaire Chris Nasser for his estranged wife Hollie with the man’s lawyer claiming she was using the court “as a weapon and not a shield”.

The court had previously heard the AVO was taken out in response to a claim by Ms Nasser that her husband knocked her off her feet with a push inside their family’s Paddington home on November 10.

Mr Nasser was never charged, denied pushing his ex wife and contested the AVO in court.

The breakdown of Hollie and Chris Nasser’s marriage became public late last year.

It was the fastest chapter for the couple after the flame-out of their five year relationship hit the headlines when it was revealed that Ms Nasser was dating fund management company CEO Charlie Aitken — the ex husband of her one time best friend, Ellie Aitken.

Mr Aitken had been the investment partner of Mr Nasser for seven years.

But prosecutors told Magistrate Susan McIntyre in the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday morning that the AVO was being withdrawn.

This came after Mr Nasser’s lawyer Paul McGirr submitted to the police prosecution there were numerous problems with Ms Nasser’s version of events given to police and that her actions did not demonstrate that she was in fear of her ex.

Mr McGirr told the court that Ms Nasser had returned to the family home while the interim AVO was in place.

This included the fact that Ms Nasser sent numerous text messages to Mr Nasser in mid January blaming him for their messy separation featuring in the media, which were included in defence submissions the court.

“It appears Ms Nasser has used the court as a weapon and not a shield,” Mr McGirr said outside court.

Mr McGirr said his client “has never once acted violently”.

“He is a gentle, loving man who is only concerned with the wellbeing of his children.”

The AVO had been taken out by police on an interim basis and was in court to set a hearing date, which is no longer needed.
