A drill rapper who rose to fame after recording an album inside a prison has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a man to death outside a Mexican fast food restaurant in Sydney’s inner west.

Jacob Tammer-Spence, who goes by rap moniker Snoee Badman, was arrested in Concord around 5.40pm on Wednesday night, two days after he allegedly stabbed Sitaleki Filihiahekava outside Guzman y Gomez on Marrickville Rd.

Tammer-Spence was taken to Burwood Police Station following the manhunt, where he was charged with murder.

NSW Police have said they believe the fatal attack on Mr Filihiahekava was targeted, and are investigating possible links to organised crime.

Mr Filihiahekava was known to be an associate of Dejan “Danny the Serb” Radulovic, who was stabbed to death in Balmain in July 2023 in what police allege was a drug deal gone wrong.

Tammer-Spence is a key player in the Australian drill rap scene, who shot to fame after recording an EP from inside a prison and posting on social media from the inside.

The rapper has almost 7000 followers on his YouTube music channel, with his various original tracks collectively racking up more than a million views between them.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Monday evening and desperately tried to revive Mr Filihiahekava, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Inner West police’s Acting Commander Ben Kennis said Mr Filihiahekava – who is known to police – was having dinner with family moments before he was stabbed to death by his attacker on the footpath.

Supt Kennis said detectives regard the shocking public incident as a targeted attack.

“The victim was with a number of people at a restaurant in Marrickville prior to the incident,” he said.

“We believe at this point the two people met and the attack was somewhat targeted and not random.”

Police also believe the pair were known to each other before the fatal incident.

“They did meet at that intersection where the incident took place,” Supt Kennis said.

“There was a very brief encounter and it didn’t last long until that male was stabbed.”

Mourners held a vigil for Mr Filihiahekava at the spot where he died outside the restaurant, with a small crowd gathering with heads bowed and hands in their pockets.

Tammer-Spence did not apply for bail at Burwood Local Court on Thursday, with the matter adjourned for eight weeks for police to provide a brief of evidence.

Outside court, his solicitor Deng Adut made a bizarre statement to media, responding to questions with simply “forget about the charges”.

The matter will return to Burwood Local Court on November 20.
