A professional dancer who made it to the final of Dancing With The Stars as Chris Bath’s partner is defending himself against allegations he sexually touched a woman without her consent.
Trenton Shipley, 48, has been charged with multiple counts of sexually touching a woman, whose identity has been suppressed by a court order, at Annandale in a series of alleged offences that unfolded between 10pm and 4am on a night in February 2021.
According to documents tendered in the Downing Centre Local Court, police have charged Shipley with seven offences.
This includes four counts of sexual touching without consent and three charges of common assault.
All of the charges relate to offences that police allege were inflicted on the same woman. Shipley, who is also a professional artist specialising in oil paintings, is set to defend the charges, which were heard in the court last week.
Much of the hearings were conducted in closed court, meaning the details of the proceedings cannot be reported.
According to documents released by the court, police allege the incidents began late on February 9, 2021, at Annandale.
Police allege Shipley kissed the woman’s face and neck and touched her hips and buttocks at about 10.30pm.
At 11.45pm police allege Shipley touched the woman’s legs and thighs. Just after midnight, police allege Shipley kissed the woman’s face and neck.
At 4.10am, police allege Shipley touched the woman’s breasts and genitalia. Court documents said the woman did not consent to any of the contact.
An established professional dancer, Shipley made it to the grand final in the third season of Dancing With The Stars in 2005, when he was partnered with newsreader Chris Bath.
The charges Shipley is facing are not related to his appearances on Dancing With The Stars.
Shipley’s bail was continued on strict conditions, including that he not contact or interfere with the complainant or go to certain addresses in Sydney.
