A man has been refused bail after facing court charged with intent to murder his brother following an alleged shooting near Coffs Harbour that left his older sibling fighting for life.
A 20-year old man has been refused bail after facing court charged with intent to murder his brother following an alleged shooting near Coffs Harbour that left his older sibling fighting for life.
Bradley John Thorncroft appeared in Bail Court Division 1 on Sunday after an alleged domestic dispute on a rural property.
Police will allege Thorncroft shot his brother Brayden, 22, with a .22 calibre rifle at a home on Orara Way, Nana Glen, just after 8.30pm on Saturday following a dispute.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and treated the alleged victim before he was airlifted nearly 250km north to Gold Coast University Hospital for emergency surgery, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Within 30 minutes of the shooting, police stopped an SUV on Carral Cl in Coffs Harbour. Officers arrested Bradley Thorncroft and allegedly seized a rifle from the vehicle, which is undergoing forensic testing.
He was charged with shooting with intent to murder; possessing and using an unauthorised firearm; possession of ammunition without a licence; stalking or intimidating with intent to cause physical harm; and mid-range drink driving.
Thorncroft will appear in Coffs Harbour local court on September 23.
