A toddler has died after being struck by a car in Sydney’s west.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to Culgoa Bend in Villawood about 12pm on Saturday.
When they arrived, officers were told a car driven by a 28-year-old woman had allegedly hit an 18-month-old girl in the driveway of a home.
NSW Ambulance paramedics provided first aid at the scene before rushing the girl to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where she died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle had been taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.
The incident was one of three fatalities in a horror day on NSW roads in and around Sydney, with two motorcyclists also killed in separate incidents.
In the first, a motorcyclist believed to be in his 50s died at the scene of a crash with a ute on the Old Princes Highway at Helensburgh, south of Sydney.
The 26-year-old man driving the ute was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police, who were called to the scene about 1pm, advised motorists to avoid the highway, which was closed in both directions between Helensburgh and Waterfall after the crash.
About half an hour later, emergency services responded to another motorcycle crash on Memorial Ave at Kellyville, in Sydney’s northwest.
Paramedics treated the 39-year-old motorcyclist, but he could not be revived and died at the scene.
Reports will be prepared for the coroner on all three incidents.
