It is the moment security cameras catch two brazen thieves helping themselves to some new years’ gravy by breaking into a Thornton pie shop and stealing cash from a safe.
A police strike force has been set up to investigate the early morning raid on Ridgey Didge Pies on January 3 – the Monday after the new years weekend.
It was about 3am when the closed circuit television cameras pick up the two suspects as they break their way into the shop by forcing a rear door with their identities concealed using hoodies and face coverings.
They then force their way into a locked office and head straight to a safe fixed on a wall, stealing cash and causing damage to the premises before making their escape.
Port Stephens-Hunter detectives have established Strike Force Aldus to investigate the aggravated break and enter.
The images have been released in the hope that the two people shown can be identified.
One was wearing a black hooded-jumper with a yellow basketball motif and light coloured pants. He was also wearing gloves and something covering part of his face.
The second man was wearing a yellow and black hoodie, which had been pulled over to cover his face, and dark-coloured pants.
Information should be forwarded to Port Stephens-Hunter detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
