Another man who witnessed the “shocking” crash, Anmol, was parked at the lights when he saw the white Renault coming towards him at speed.

He told The Daily Telegraph a black Raptor was turning on a green light when the Renault “smacked” into the ute.

“I was shocked myself man,” Anmol said.

Anmol was in a state of confusion, his car started beeping and seat belt tightened.

“I hit my brakes and three seconds later, I looked on my left, the car goes bang. The car rolled and hit the pole and started smoking.”

A caller to 2GB said the vehicle was being pursued by police when it crashed.

“He’s gone through the fence … there’s coppers everywhere, like 30 or 40 cop cars on scene,” the caller said.

Traffic was diverted away from the scene on Camden Valley Way.

Three men working at a nearby construction site were desperately asking police for more information about the man in the black Raptor. One man was heard saying his “boss” drove a similar car and they lingered around the scene until police said they believed it to be the man they were looking for.
