Eight different Sydney roads are in the spotlight as police investigate a single-vehicle crash that put five teens in hospital last weekend.

Detectives are appealing for dashcam vision as part of an ongoing critical incident investigation into a car crash at Cammeray about 4.40pm on Sunday, which seriously injured five people.

Police are looking for any witnesses or those with dashcam vision, who were travelling on any of the eight roads in the vicinity of the crash between 4.30pm and 4.40pm, to come forward.

The roads include Belmont Ave in Wollstonecraft, Alexander St in Crows Nest, Marina Dr in Cammeray, and Miller St in Northbridge.

It also include Palmer St in Cammeray, Strathallen Ave in Northbridge, Cliff Ave in Cammeray and West St in Cammeray, where the car ended up.

All five teens were taken to hospital in a critical condition following the horror crash.

Three Mosman teenagers and another north shore boy, who were left fighting for life, have since improved and are now listed as being in a serious condition.

NSW Police said only one of the five teens – an 18-year-old male from Hornsby – who was in the back seat of the Holden Commodore when it slammed into a tree, was still listed as critical.

All five teenagers are being treated in Royal North Shore Hospital.

BIZARRE TWIST

Police said they were pursuing the vehicle which was allegedly being driven by a 16-year-old Mosman schoolgirl, but called off the chase when the vehicle crossed to the wrong side of the road.

In a bizarre twist, Detective Superintendent Paul Delvaney said the group in the car had allegedly been involved in an assault at Wollstonecraft about 30 minutes earlier.

Detective Superintendent Paul Delvaney said police were on their way to check on the alleged assault victim when they spotted the red Holden Commodore in North Sydney and began to pursue it.

At one stage according to police, the car crossed to the wrong side of the road and later reached speeds up to 150km/h forcing officers to stop their chase.

The driver, who has never held a learners permit, lost control on West St and hit a tree.

Detective Superintendent Delvaney said the actions of police and first responders in pulling all five occupants to safety before the car blew up in flames was ‘heroic’.
