An amateur boxer allegedly made vile sexual threats towards a soccer referee’s mother and wife before bashing him and shattering his jaw, a court has been told.

Adam Abdallah, 25, had been taunting match officials from the sideline of a men’s premier league football game at Padstow on Friday night, before things escalated.

Bankstown Local Court was told yesterday that after the game, which Greenacre lost to Padstow 5-1, Abdallah jumped a perimeter fence and started yelling at referee Khoder Yaghi, 45.

In police facts obtained by The Daily Telegraph, it is alleged that Mr Yaghi asked a ranting Abdallah to “please move away”.

“The accused has then turned to the victim and said “I’m going to f**k your mum and sister”,” the facts state.

Police allege Abdallah then “stood in a boxing stance” and punched Mr Yaghi, who used his metal sideline flag to defend himself, before the accused then repeatedly struck him in the head with his fist and foot.

Abdallah, who is about to become a father, hung his head as the court was played the chilling footage which has been circulated on social media.

Abdallah’s pregnant wife cried as the court was told police had concerns he would endanger the safety of the alleged victim and the community if he were granted bail.

“This is an outrageous attack on a match official who was simply officiating at a soccer game,” the police prosecutor told the court.

He said there was “little to no provocation” from the referee, who asked Mr Abdallah to move away.

Soccer referee Khodr Yaghi underwent massive facial reconstruction surgery on Monday after his jaw was shattered during an alleged assault.

Mr Yaghi, a father to four young boys, underwent major facial reconstruction surgery in Liverpool Hospital yesterday to treat his shattered jaw.

He also lost four teeth in the alleged assault which will be replaced once his jaw heals.

Mr Yaghi was last night in recovery.

“Surgery went well - thank God,” Mr Yaghi texted from his beside.

Abdallah’s defence barrister Talal Krayem applied for bail, saying his client was willing to adhere to strict conditions and pay $250,000 in surety.

He said Abdallah was defending himself after Mr Yaghi struck him with a sideline flag, causing him to fall to the ground.

Mr Krayem said his client’s memory of the incident was patchy because of the head injury he sustained before the alleged attack.

But magistrate Glenn Walsh denied bail, saying the risk to the community was “too great”.

“My view is it was a concerted effort for someone in full control of his physical abilities to chase after a man and beat him,” Mr Walsh said.

A number of supporters were present in court, including the 25-year-old’s mother, father, five month pregnant wife, siblings and friends.

Abdullah will return to court in June.

Bankstown District Amateur Football Association confirmed Abdallah, who played for Greenacre Eagles, was serving a two-year suspension at the time of the alleged assault.

The NSW Combat Sports Authority, which oversees boxing, will now consider permanently banning Abdallah after NSW Police made submissions for his registration to be urgently reviewed.
