A south west Sydney man has been granted conditional bail on Tuesday after police allegedly discovered and seized a number of firearms and prohibited weapons at his home early this morning.
Steven Nguyen, 38, was arrested at his Bonnyrigg home about 6.45am on Tuesday after detectives from Strike Force Temarang conducted a search warrant of his property.
Fairfield Local Court heard officers located 17 prohibited Gel Blaster firearms, two extendible batons, a dart gun, a slingshot, and a number of gun silencers at the man’s property.
Nguyen was charged with 13 counts of possessing unauthorised prohibited firearms, seven counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and four counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol.
He was granted conditional bail on Tuesday.
As part of his bail conditions, Nguyen is not to go within 1km of any international point of departure and must not leave NSW or Australia.
He is also not to apply for any passport or international travel documents, visit any websites that sell firearms, and he must report to Bankstown Police Station on Saturday.
Mr Nguyen was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the importation and manufacture of 3D printed firearms, firearm parts and other improvised firearms in NSW that police launched in September this year.
All matters were adjourned until November 23.
