A suburban mum and beautician who imported date rape drug ‘fantasy’ in eyelash remover and sold it to her clients has been ordered to serve a two-year prison sentence in the community.

Masses of Lashes importer Tony Millevoi, 50, acted “recklessly and unjustifiably” after continuing to sell gamma butyrolactone (GBL) in her beauty products knowing it could have been illegal, Judge Robert Montgomery told the court during her sentence.

Millevoi was convicted after pleading guilty to importing and trafficking the drug through her Cobbitty-based business Cocoa Being during February, 2019, which has since closed due to the scandal.

On Wednesday, Millevoi threw her head back in relief then sobbed into tissues when the judge ordered her two year and six month prison sentence be served in the community as opposed to a full time jail term. She was also fined $10,000.

The court heard how Millevoi became suspicious as to whether the liquid and gel eyelash remover was legal after a shipment was seized by border force officials in January 2019.

But they did not answer her questions of why the shipment - which had the ingredient butyrolactone on the label - was seized, so she continued to import and sell the drug.

Judge Montgomery said the case was “unique” with no other case in the history of Australian jurisdiction like it.

“She did not take part in concealing the act, nor did she act with a significant reward or incentive as with a courier in a typical drug trade,” he told the court.

But Judge Montgomery told the court: “Her continuing to trade was unjustifiable and reckless. She preferred trade and profit over her responsibility to the community. She should have ceased trading in liquid and gel until she was assured it was legal to continue.”

The court heard she was visited by an undercover police officer posing as a client on February 5, 2019, who referred to ‘G’ in the popular product.

To which the beautician replied, ‘What is G?’.....“they put it in people’s drinks?”.

She searched the internet and questioned friends and family about the legitimacy of selling the item, while continuing to do so.

Millevoi decided to speak with a lawyer on February 28, 2019, hours before an arrest warrant was executed at her home.

Millevoi told the court in an affidavit she became “complacent” and was deeply apologetic.

“I thought if I was doing something wrong someone would come and tell me. I convinced myself I wasn‘t doing anything illegal,” she wrote.

The court heard she was struggling with mental health issues and abusing alcohol at the time.
