Alexandria childcare worker charged with assaulting three toddlers

A 29-year-old female childcare worker will defend charges of assaulting three two-year-old boys while working at a centre in Sydney’s inner city.

A Sydney childcare worker wants to fight her charges after police accused her of hitting three toddlers at an inner-city centre.

Meggie Anggraini was mentioned in Downing Centre Local Court on Monday after being charged with three counts of common assault over the incident at the Alexandria childcare centre last month.

Police allege in court documents the 29-year-old from Zetland assaulted three boys, all aged 2, between 5.17 and 5.18pm on July 13.

The 29-year-old woman allegedly assaulted the three two-year-old boys that were in her care.

Officers will allege she hit the boys during the incident.

The boys all have different surnames, according to the court documents.

The court heard Anggraini wanted to plead not guilty to all three charges, but police prosecutors said they could not accept those pleas because the NSW DPP would be handling the case.

A registrar adjourned the case until September 6 and made a note that the matter was being referred to the DPP.

Anggraini, who is on bail, will appear before the same court with a lawyer in September when she can formally enter pleas to the three offences.

Detectives had started an investigation after being told the boys were allegedly assaulted while in a woman’s care at the childcare centre.

Anggraini was arrested at Mascot police station and charged on July 22.
