A young man charged with murdering a teen during an alleged wild brawl has been granted bail by a magistrate.

Police are now urgently applying to reverse the decision in the Supreme Court after Ibrahima Diallo’s lawyer Oussama Elfawal successfully applied for his release on Thursday.

Police allege the 17-year-old boy’s death last year was a raging escalation in tensions between two “postcode gangs” in Western Sydney who had been fighting in the days prior.

Diallo, 21, and a group of teenagers are alleged to have taunted the young man outside his home in Blacktown last September by blaring Top Of The League by drill rapper CG M.o.b from their cars. CG M.o.b, who is not alleged to be involved in any criminal wrongdoing.

As a fight unfolded shortly after, the boy was stabbed multiple times and died in the street from horrific injuries, according to court documents.

Police later located a “zombie knife” and a machete. Seven other people were treated for stab wounds.

“Our son was from a loving family that is now grieving his loss after he suffered a sudden and violent death,” the boy’s mother previously said.

Three other teenage boys, aged between 13 and 15, also sustained serious injuries that left them in a critical condition at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Diallo is not alleged to have injured them.

Diallo was located at a train station a short time later while the rest of the group was arrested at the scene.

His lawyer Mr Elfawal told the court Diallo did turn up to the home but left before the fight started.

This was backed up in Blacktown Local Court when Mr Elfawal provided data from Transport NSW that proved it would have been impossible for Diallo to have made it to the train station if he fled when the fight began.

Magistrate Carl Milovanovich granted him bail after Diallo put up $20,000 and offered to remain on home detention.

Police filed a stay against the proceedings, and Diallo will remain behind bars until the Supreme Court decides next week if he should be released.
