Teen, 14, charged with stabbing at football field in Sydney’s southwest

Multiple police officers including a dog squad were sent to Oran Park after a 17-year-old was stabbed, his alleged attacker arrested a short time later.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged over the stabbing of another teenager in Sydney’s southwest overnight.

Emergency services were called to a sports field on Dick Johnson Dr at Oran Park shortly after 8pm following reports of an assault.

Multiple police officers including a dog squad were dispatched shortly after the attack near Jack Brabham Reserve to locate the alleged offender.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 17-year-old for lacerations on his left arm and multiple stab wounds to his right arm and wrist. He was then airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

A number of locals reported the injured teen coming for help while soccer practice was being held at the football field.

A short time later, the alleged offender handed himself in to officers at Narellan Police Station around 1.30am.

He has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Wednesday.

The Oran Park Gregory Hills Charges junior rugby league club said that the alleged incident took place at Jack Brabham Reserve and confirmed all of their players are safe and well.

“There is currently news circulating of an event occurring at our field tonight,” the club’s statement read.

“We wish to advise that our Chargers were not involved in anything at our field tonight.

“We are unable to make comment at this time but do wish to advise that all of our Chargers are safe and well.”

PEDESTRIAN CRASH

In a separate incident, a pedestrian was hit by a car less than ten minutes away from the alleged stabbing attack.

Emergency services attended Oran Park Drive, Oran Park just before 3pm on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a crash with a pedestrian.

NSW Ambulance treated the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, for leg injuries before transporting him to Liverpool Hospital.

The Daily Telegraph understands that a man in his 50s alleged to be the driver of the vehicle, also received treatment before being transported to Campbelltown Hospital.
