Just like the movies, their tools of the trade include spy cameras, night vision goggles and multiple disguises.

In episode one you will hear from David King, who has built a career catching cheaters.

“There are as many naughty boys as there are naughty girls,” he says, while revealing Valentine’s Day is King’s busiest day of the year.

Keith Schafferius is Australia’s longest licenced private eye and has earned the nickname “The Retriever”.

In episode two you will hear how he has been shot at, chased by police, jailed and forced to pay bribes as he reunited more than 100 children with their families.

“You are served” are among Marea Smith’s favourite words.

Smith – who features in episode 3 – has been in the private eye business a long time and has a nose for trouble and she is not to be messed with. Marea has specialised in debt collection and process serving and says it can be a nasty business.

Michael Rumore’s speciality is murder. And in episode 4, he reveals how some of his work has been so dangerous, he’s left behind instructions for what to do, if he didn’t turn up at a certain place at a certain time.

Catfishing has become the scourge of social media and it means a scammer using social media or other online communications to catch a romantic match using fake info. But it happens in real life too. Enter Julia Robson, who in episode 5, who has spent seven years tracking down one of the greatest romantic conmen.
