Just after midnight on June 15, 2003, Nathan Garriock’s body was found at the rear of a white Holden Commodore. The car had ploughed into a crowd of teenagers who were celebrating an 18th birthday party.
No one has been charged with Nathan’s death and his family want to know who is responsible.
Although there were up to 100 people at the party, no one says they saw what happened to Nathan.
Four years after their son Nathan was killed at his best mate’s birthday party, Bill and Joan Garriock prepared to attend the inquest into Nathan’s death.
As the mother of slain teenager walked out of the coroner’s court during one of the recess breaks, a group of the gatecrashers resting against the wall yelled out to her.
“As we came out of court, one of the boys yelled out, ‘it was one of yours, it was one of yours that killed him’. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” says Joan Garriock.
Speculation and rumour was already rife, but now it was at fever pitch about who was responsible for Nathan’s death.
Fifteen years on and the family are still waiting for answers. Was it one of Nathan’s friends who killed him or one of the gatecrashers?
