EARTHWATCH Australia has a Vanishing Frogs expedition in November in which travellers will help discover why Australian frogs are disappearing.
Participants will support Earthwatch and Professor Michael Mahony, from the University of Newcastle, and his team as they conduct surveys in the Gondwana Rainforest in northern NSW.
They will walk through or alongside streams at night, listening out for frog calls and catching tadpoles.
In the past 20 years nine species of Australian frogs have become extinct.
A further 15 species have declining populations and 27 species are listed as threatened.
The seven-day expedition costs $2395 a person, including food, accommodation, park fees, transport throughout the site and a contribution towards the research.
A second team will follow in January.
