A DRUNKEN row between newlyweds on their flight to their honeymoon destination forced the plane to make an emergency landing.
Delta Air Lines decided to divert the 901 flight bound for Costa Rica’s capital of San Jose in South America when the US newlyweds’ celebrations turned into a blazing row, Yahoo News reported.
To make matters worse for the newlyweds from Atlanta, Georgia, the bridegroom was arrested for being drunk and disorderly when the plane made the emergency landing in the Cayman Islands.
But the bride was allowed to stay on the flight and made it alone to their honeymoon destination.
However, all was not lost for his new bride, who was allowed to remain on board and travel on to their honeymoon resort in Costa Rica.
A Delta Air Lines spokesman said a “disruptive customer” prompted the crew to divert.
“The flight landed without incident and the customer was met by local authorities,” Lindsay McDuff said.
Royal Cayman Islands chief inspector Raymond Christian said the man was detained over the charge andcould face further charges under international air law.
It was the second time in recent weeks the airline had performed an emergency landing because of drunken behaviour by a passenger from the US.
