A TECHNICAL fault at the Brisbane Airport traffic control centre has caused delays to flights this evening.
The fault affected flights in and out of Brisbane, Sydney and several rural Queensland airports.
Air Services Australia said a computer hardware component had failed.
“Controllers were still able to provide an air traffic control service,” a spokesman said.
“To reintroduce full functionality to the system, a full reboot of a small number of air traffic control consoles was required.”
About 6.30pm Air Services Australia said the fault had been rectified, and had caused minor delays.
“Aircraft departing Brisbane Airport to the north and west were delayed by approximately 15-20 minutes while departures from Sydney Airport heading north saw delays of about 10 minutes,” the spokesperson said.
