JUPITERS Gold Coast is planning to build a luxurious six-star hotel and revamp the existing Jupiters grounds and the present Broadbeach hotel. The bold plans, if they get the go ahead, will see the already sumptuous resort step up a level, with hundreds of millions of dollars proposed to be injected into the facelift. The projected plans include the new high-rise six-star resort which will feature 75 plush rooms (including deluxe, sleekly appointed suites with private balcony infinity pools), the implementation of an entertainment area complete with restaurants, bars and shops, and a revamp of the current hotel and casino complex.

If approved, Jupiters aims to start work on the expansion in mid 2014, with the aim of completion in 2016.

This won't however be Australia's first six-star hotel. South African billionaire Sol Kerzner is planning to spend $50 million to upgrade Queensland's Hayman Island into a six-star One&Only resort.

It does, however, look like either way Queensland will be home to some pretty lush accommodation options in the future.
