TOURIST chiefs hope a feel-good video will spark a wave of interest in the West Australian wheatbelt — home to the iconic Wave Rock.
The clip, which features Fremantle band San Cisco’s song Rocket Ship, has been posted on YouTube to give would-be visitors from around the world a taste of everything the region has to offer — with the emphasis on fun.
‘Rock Out on the Pathways to Wave Rock’ showcases amazing scenery and rural hospitality, plus a whole lot of dance moves, as four travellers are whisked through the region by a green Kombi.
Senior project officer from the Shire of Kulin Gen Whisson said: “We wanted to show people all the amazing things out here as well as Wave Rock.
“Traditionally we’ve been seen as just a wheat and sheep growing area, but there is so much more to do and see out here, including wineries, bush races, water sports, heritage museums, as well as some amazing sights.”
The film clip was an initiative of Roe Tourism Association, a partnership between the Shires of Bruce Rock, Corrigin, Kondinin, Kulin, Lake Grace, Narembeen and Quairading, with support from Tourism Western Australia and Australia’s Golden Outback.
