THROW another shrimp on the barbie at Kakadu this month, as the Crocodile Hotel and Cooinda Lodge celebrate all things Paul Hogan.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the actor’s iconic tourism ads which put the Kakadu region on the map, the two hotels are offering special Paul Hogan-themed weekend stay and activity packages all this month.
Guests can watch Crocodile Dundee films, chow down on “shrimp entrees” and receive a crocodile-themed gift pack, in addition to taking in the natural and cultural attractions that have made the World Heritage-listed national park world famous.
Guests are also encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Paul Hogan character in order to fully get into the mood.
With record numbers of American visitors coming to Australia last year in 2013, Kakadu Tourism executive officer Ken McNaught said all tourism operators in Kakadu and the Top End owed a debt to Paul Hogan.
“He has been the single most influential figure in raising the Australian profile in America,” McNaught said.
