SOMEONE didn’t miss a beat when Telstra was hit by another outage today — their arch rivals Vodafone.

Today Vodafone sent out a media release spruiking its latest push to win new customers. And it did so just as Telstra happened to be enduring its third major outage.

As Telstra customers vented on social media that they were fed up with the company, Vodafone was offering a new plan for new customers who would get one month free access fees on some voice and broadband deals.

“We know how important it is to stay connected, so if you’re having trouble with your network, we invite you to come on over to Vodafone,” Vodafone Director of Sales Ben McIntosh said.

Included in the push was a line about their “strong, reliable, resilient network”.

How convenient.

Meanwhile, Telstra today spent most of the day on the backfoot after being forced to explain itself to its unhappy customers. They’ll be hoping they won’t have to do it again.
