THEY have the power to decide the fate of elections and have kept US gun control in check for the past 143 years.

But it turns out that the National Rifle Association of America is also a shopper’s delight, with its online store offering an arsenal of handy products to enhance and complement your armoury.

Founded in 1871 to “promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis”, the NRA is the ultimate defender of the US Constitution's second amendment, which gives its citizens the right to bear arms.

We’ve perused the NRA store and found the top five craziest items that allow you to bear arms with style, comfort and convenience.

1. Flashbang women’s holster — $US39.95

Is that a gun on your chest or are you just happy to see me?

The NRA is all about gender equality when it comes to shooting things, so it has created a holster that allows a handgun to be discreetly positioned in the middle of a bra.

The store says its Flashbang Women’s Holster has “revolutionised the way women conceal their firearms”.

The gun attaches to the middle of the bra and tucks under the underwire for easy access when things gets real. It’s “the definition of discreet”.

The Flashbang has three leather straps of different lengths to accommodate all sizes, and each strap is branded with the NRA logo.

2. Steer Clear Vehicle Holster Mount — $US39.95

.

Don’t you hate it when you’re on the road, get the hankering to shoot something and don’t have your piece within easy reach? (We’ve all been there.)

Fear not! The NRA has a solution.

Try the Steer Clear Vehicle Holster Mount, which allows your gun to sit directly under your steering wheel so you can take aim at a second’s notice.

“The open road is a dangerous place for the unprepared. Fortunately, the NRAstore has discovered a new way to carry on-the-road protection securely and accessibly,” the site says.

The holster is easy to install and, thankfully, won’t interfere with your driving.

3. Covert Comfort Ankle Holster — $US35.95

.

There’s nothing more frustrating than when your firearm rubs up against your ankle, right?

Well, turn to the Covert Comfort Ankle Holster, which provides superior relief thanks to its genuine sheepskin padding.

“Vegetable tanned to avoid firearm corrosion, the plush natural fleece naturally cradles your ankle while safely securing almost any size handgun — from a small snub-nose to a full-size semi-auto,” the NRA store raves.

4. NRA Infant Bib — $7.95

It’s important to indoctrinate your young from an early age and there’s no better way than with baby’s first NRA bib.

With this smart terry towel number, your little one will be envy of all the other kids at daycare.

Available in blue for boys or pink for girls.

5. NRA Tactical Phone Operator Holster — $US39.95

Homer Simpson once said, “The call is from heroism. Will you accept the charges?”

You can answer the call with a new “discreet and deceptive” holster, which places your mobile phone, credit card and driver’s licence neatly next to your favourite handgun.

In the same way that one should avoid drinking and dialling, be sure not to imbibe and execute.
