A disturbing video of two people seemingly engaged in a sexual act in a disabled bathroom at a Queensland shopping centre has shocked shoppers and caused a stir online.

The video posted on the social media page “S*** Maroochydore” last night appears to show two naked people standing in the cubicle seen through a frosted glass door.

Unfortunately – for both the couple and witnesses – the door provided little help in obscuring the act taking place inside.

The footage is purported to have been filmed at Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, with centre management acknowledging it was aware of an “alleged incident”.

Some social media users were quick to poke fun at the incident, with one joking: “I don’t think that’s what unisex means.”

“When timezone just isn’t entertaining enough,” another said.

“Never using that toilet again.”

Some said it looked like the man was performing a Heimlich manoeuvre.

“What a nice guy trying to help the poor person choking.”

A few users noted the man appeared to be completely nude apart from some black socks.

“I worked security at the plaza for years and I’m telling you, socks on is definitely the right choice,” one man said.

Many others, however, were alarmed that it appeared easy to see inside the toilet due to the largely transparent door.

“Hope they used better protection than the door provided,” one said.

“Pretty cooked that the disabled toilets have a door you can literally see through?”

It was a common question for social media users, one of whom asked: “Anyone else concerned why the door is so see-through?”

Sunshine Plaza centre manager Michael Manwaring confirmed it was aware of the incident, and local police had been notified.

“Sunshine Plaza has a comprehensive security management program in place including entrance and in-centre CCTV surveillance, 24-hour security patrols 7 days a week and regular police presence,” he said.

“As always the safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff is paramount.”
