A bizarre theory emerged immediately after Donald Trump was rushed off stage as shots rang out at a campaign rally, proving the internet is out of control.

Those who are anti-Trump have been quick to claim that the dramatic moment was staged. On Sunday morning, the word “staged” was trending on X, formerly Twitter, in Australia.

One member of the rally crowd was confirmed dead soon after, as was the alleged shooter, while another person was left with a severe condition.

Still, that didn’t stop users on X from drawing thousands of ludicrous, unfettered conclusions.

Social media is rife with speculation that the shooting incident at Donald Trump’s campaign rally was staged, with many anti-Trump users pointing to perceived inconsistencies in the event.

“Nothing has ever been more staged, pushing off secret service who are much stronger than him to put a fist in the air for the cameras, f**k off this is not a Marvel movie,” one post read with more than 30,000 likes in support.

“Now I am pretty sure that this crap was staged by Trump himself,” another top post read.

“Paintball attack? It’s giving staged for politics. Trump is a great actress,” speculated a third.

Some suggested the crowd behind Trump did not react in a legitimate way.

“Nobody in the crowd is running or panicking … I don’t trust it. I don’t trust him,” wrote one person.

“Gotta pay your crisis actors better. They’ve never looked more unbothered,” said another.

Others claimed an image that immediately went worldwide of Trump with his fist defiantly raised in the air and blood on his face, while Secret Service personnel surround him, was “too perfect”.

“This is such a perfect photo its hard to believe it is not staged. Photo of the decade. Absolutely incredible,” one person wrote, gaining thousands of likes.

Dramatic footage of the incident shows Trump diving behind the podium he was speaking at with Secret Service personnel and then diving on top of him as loud bangs could be heard.

The former US President and presumptive Republican presidential nominee emerged with what appeared to be blood coming from above his right ear.

The 78-year-old pumped his fist to the crowd and cameras before he was ushered to a waiting car.

Trump’s supporters could be heard screaming, and crowd members could be seen ducking in their seats.

Soldiers in military gear armed with machine guns were seen rushing into the rally.

The video of the incident shows nine popping noises, including three before Trump ducked.Trump spokesman Steven Cheung has released a statement saying the former President is “fine” and receiving medical attention.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” Mr Cheung said.

“He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.

“More details will follow.”

Donald Trump Jr tweeted in support of his father “He’ll never stop fighting to Save America”.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was today expected to announce his running mate for this year’s election.
