REVIEW
Every year I get stuck on what presents to buy my family for Christmas. Why is it so hard to buy gifts for people? I get such a brain block! Not to mention, when you ask family members what they want for Christmas they give you that “oh, I don’t know” answer with an awkward smile.
It’s the season of giving and yet you’re giving me nothing! Please, no need to be coy, just tell me what you want (by the way this is an open invitation, family members).
I’ve reviewed a ridiculous amount of tech and gadgets this year, so I should really be able to come up with some ideas. And after a lot of thought, I’ve managed to put together a techy gift guide that should suit most of the members of your family.
FUJIFILM INSTAX MINI 11 INSTANT KIT $129
RELATED: ‘Impressive’ smart phone is missing one thing
We might all have cameras on our phone these days but instant cameras are still an extremely popular way for tweens and teens to decorate their bedroom. In fact, most people find this slice of nostalgia fun to break out at all kinds of occasions.
They’re especially great for the festive season when creating memories for the family.
It’s super fun to pass the camera around and to be able to give out a printed photo to family members straight away. This kit comes with the camera, a case, a pack of film and even a string of light-up pegs that are great for displaying your pics.
SONY SRS-XB12 COMPACT BLUETOOTH SPEAKER $50-$80
RELATED: Huge flaw in cult headphones
This small portable speaker is waterproof, dustproof, mudproof and sandproof (IP67) which means you can easily take it anywhere without worrying about the conditions.
It’s loud enough to get the party going or hold up an outdoor family barbecue, especially with it’s 16-hour battery life. They come in six different colours and can easily suit a young one or any adult in the family.
QKK 4200 LUMENS MINI PROJECTOR $130-$160
RELATED: Easy way to save $350 on popular phone
It’s time to pop your own popcorn and create a makeshift cinema in your own home! After plenty of research, this is the cheapest high quality projector that you can get – most will set you back $500-$1000!
Although you can’t expect the greatest quality for this price I’ve enjoyed many movies using this projector and even had the projection size at around 3x4m (which is bigger than the biggest TVs on the market). It was awesome!
RING FIT ADVENTURE FOR THE NINTENDO SWITCH $125
This game continually sold out almost every few months after its launch this year. With quarantine off and on, the game became a go-to for people who needed creative and fun ways to stay active.
Ring Fit Adventure gamifies cardio and has you running, squatting, jumping and also doing gentle arm exercises with the included ‘ring’, which acts as your controller.
Its gameplay is great for young kids but it’s easy for the whole family to join in (just don’t forget you also need a Nintendo Switch console).
LIFX + WITH INFRA-RED A19 B22 LED SMARTBULB / LIFX + E27 BULB $80-$100 LIFX Wi-Fi controlled smart light is an excellent gift for a gamer, a teenager, young child (to create a calming atmosphere around sleep time), or for any adult to enhance their space.
These are high quality stand-alone smart bulbs that are quick and easy to set up and they don’t require any extra products to get up and running.
All you need is the LIFX app, which acts as the remote for your light, and you will have dimmable lights that can be set to almost any colour you can think of. Make this even more awesome by giving this gift with a $20 Kmart lamp or decorative light.
All of the above items can be found online at online retailers such as eBay or your typical techy retail stores. Happy gifting!
