Xbox Series S, Series X releasing November 10 at $499 and $749

Xbox has revealed it will release not one but two next-gen consoles and we now know how much both consoles will cost at launch.

Xbox announce digital only Series S console

The price of Microsoft’s next Xbox consoles in Australia has been confirmed, but there’s a way to get the consoles at a cheaper price.

Microsoft confirmed late Wednesday night what the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will cost, with the smaller, digital only Series S coming in at the predicted $499, and the more powerful Series X costing $749.

The consoles are expected to release on November 10 with pre-orders opening on September 22.

Telstra has also revealed what it will be charging to buy the new console on a plan through the telco.

Telstra began offering Xbox consoles as a sort of value-add to your internet plan in the run up to Christmas last year.

The plans bundle the console with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a subscription service that gives you access to a rotating catalogue of more than 100 games, and recently announced the addition of EA Play titles.

That subscription currently costs $15.95 on its own.

The Series X will cost $749 and the Series S $499.

Telstra announced on Friday the new consoles, when they release, will be available on its Xbox All Access plans.

The all-digital Xbox Series S was confirmed earlier this week as information began leaking all over the internet.

The Xbox Series S is nearly 60 per cent smaller than the Series X.

Telstra is pricing the Xbox Series S at $33 per month over 24 months, and if you take the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultmate out of that it points to a console only price of $410.

The more powerful, bigger Xbox Series X is $46 per month, indicating a console only price of $720.

You need to be a Telstra customer on an existing postpaid plan to take advantage of Xbox All Access.

PlayStation is yet to say how much its competing console will cost or when it will be released.
