Flappy Bird creator says the game will return in August

IT’S back. The illusive game that had us all addicted is finally returning, and this time it has another trick up its sleeve.

FLAPPY Bird is coming back, and this time it will have multiplayer.

In an interview with CNBC, Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen said that the game will return in August. He also said he’s working on “lots of games,” including one where players jump from “building to building,” a concept that sounds decidedly Canabalt-inspired.

Nguyen pulled Flappy Bird from the iTunes App Store and Google Play after the game became a surprise runaway success. He said the game ruined his “simple life,” and was concerned that people were addicted to his creation.

In March, on his Twitter, Nguyen answered a question asked of him as to whether or not the game would ever return. He replied that it would, but “not soon.”

It now seems that “not soon” now means August.

In addition to a slew of clones, the game also inspired a solid gold Flappy Bird replica that was selling for $1500.
