A woman has died and two children have been rescued after they were all sucked out to sea in a rip at a NSW beach.

A little boy and girl were rescued and brought safely to shore, but the woman was found unresponsive in the water a short time later.

She was brought to the beach and attempts were made to resuscitate her; however, she was unable to be revived.

NSW Ambulance said the two children suffered minor injuries after swallowing water and were taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for observation.
