Xherdan Shaqiri’s feud with Gary Neville has continued after Twitter mocked the Manchester United legend for his summer criticism of the Liverpool star.

The £13million summer signing came off the bench to net a late double to seal a 3-1 win to put the Kop 19 points clear of Mourinho’s men.

Swiss midfielder Shaqiri saw low shots deflect in on 73 and 80 minutes for a Kop victory that also earned him the man of the match award.

His intervention delighted Liverpool supporters even more after the fact that long-term rival Gary Neville was witnessing the performance from the television gantry.

Neville famously accused Shaqiri of going missing during big matches, but the United legend was forced to eat his words as the midfielder’s two goals put his former club to the sword.

In the post-match interview, Jamie Carragher also made a joke about his Sky Sports partner Neville not wanting to award Shaqiri the award because he couldn’t face him.

Neville famously called Shaqiri “unprofessional” when Stoke were relegated last season.

He said: “I’m not a fan of Shaqiri to be honest with you.

“I think that was to be fair made worse by the fact that he distanced himself from his teammates as Stoke.

“They were unprofessional last season Stoke there’s no doubt and he epitomises it. To be honest with you, with him, players like that I can’t have. I struggle with it.”

Shaqiri hilariously responded by sending a signed shirt to the former right back and insisted he did not care about Neville’s criticism of his attitude.

And when asked if he would share a coffee with the United legend by Swiss outlet Blik, Shaqiri said: “Not at all. I do not care what he says.

“I do not care if he says now that I’m playing hard.

“Many have ridiculed after the transfer that Liverpool is too big for me. But I was always calm, too, when I got little playing time at the beginning.
